Portrait of Baudouin De Lannoy - 1437
Staatliche Museen, Berlin
Baudouin De Lannoy was, like Van Eyck, a servant of Philip the Good of Burgundy, and he travelled along with Jan Van Eyck on the mission to Portugal in 1428/1429. He held a number of positions, including the governorship of Lille. He is painted wearing the insignia of the Golden Fleece, the order of chivalry instituted by Philip in 1430.
